Bregenz lies at the westernmost tip of Austria, on beautiful Lake Constance (Bodensee), the third-largest in Central Europe after Lake Balaton and Lake Geneva. The town spreads amphitheatrically at the foot of Pfander Mountain, and is most famous for its annual performing arts festival, Bergenzer Festspiele, featuring opera and musical performances on a floating stage at the lakeshore, open-air drama performances in the town's Medieval square, and many other events. Worth seeing are the Baroque Martin's Tower, whose chapel contains 14th-Century frescoes, and the Gothic St. Gall's Church. A cable car takes visitors up to the Pfander for a magnificent view of the lake, along with Germany, Austria, Switzerland and dozens of mountain peaks.

Coming trough the motorway direction to villach. 5 kilometers before coming to villach you come to the exit Villach-Warmbad (second exit after the border). You always take the direction to Bad Bleiberg (Heiligengeist is 11 km away from the exit).
